Nagpur: In a heartwarming incident that highlighted the human side of policing, the Belatodi Police Station acted swiftly to reunite a missing elderly man with his family after he was found wandering helplessly in the Besa Chowk area of Nagpur.

The elderly man, identified as Nakatu Paika Sonule (75), a resident of Kaneri village in Gadchiroli District, had come to Nagpur to visit his daughter. However, due to his inability to remember the address of his daughter’s house, he reportedly became disoriented and was seen roaming around the busy Besa Chowk area.

Police Respond Immediately After Receiving Information

As soon as information about the distressed elderly man reached Belatodi Police Station, PI Mukund Kawade sent Beat Marshals along with a police team to the spot without delay.

Police personnel carefully approached the senior citizen, reassured him, and safely brought him to the police station. Officers then patiently interacted with him to gather details about his identity and family members.

Using the police station’s CR mobile system, officers traced his relatives and established contact with his grandson, Chandrashekhar Rishi Nikode, over the phone.

Emotional Reunion at Police Station

After receiving the call from police, Chandrashekhar Nikode immediately arrived at Belatodi Police Station. Following proper verification, the missing elderly man was safely handed over to his grandson.

The emotional reunion brought relief and joy to the family, while local residents praised the police for their compassionate and prompt response.

The incident has once again highlighted the importance of community policing and the sensitive role played by police personnel in helping vulnerable citizens, especially senior citizens who may face memory-related challenges.
