Bajaj Nagar Police Trace Madhya Pradesh Rape Accused Hiding Under False Identity, Hand Him Over to Chhindwara Cops

Nagpur: A 26-year-old man from Madhya Pradesh, wanted in a rape case registered on allegations of establishing physical relations with an 18-year-old woman on the false promise of marriage, was traced and apprehended by Nagpur Police while allegedly hiding under a false identity in the city.


The accused has been identified as Kapil alias Sonu Rajendra Singh Kuthare (26), a resident of Khajari Road, near Sanchi Milk Dairy, Dhimaradhana, Chhindwara district, Madhya Pradesh.


According to police, Crime No. 155/2026 was registered at Chand Police Station in Chhindwara district, Madhya Pradesh, under Section 69 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, based on a complaint lodged by the victim.


The complainant alleged that the accused induced her into a physical relationship by promising to marry her. He later refused to marry her and fled, leading to the registration of the case.


During the investigation, Chand Police received information that the accused, who is also a native of Madhya Pradesh, was living in Kachipura under Bajaj Nagar Police Station limits in Nagpur while concealing his identity to evade arrest.


A team from Chand Police Station reached Nagpur and sought assistance from the Detection Branch (DB) of Bajaj Nagar Police Station. Using technical surveillance, the team traced the accused’s mobile phone location and tracked him down in the Sitabuldi police station limits, where he was apprehended.


The accused was subsequently brought to Bajaj Nagar Police Station and handed over to the Chand Police Station team from Chhindwara, Madhya Pradesh, for further investigation and legal action.


The operation was conducted under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner of Police S Rushikesh Reddy (Zone 1)Assistant Commissioner of Police Yashwant Nalawade (Sonegaon Division) and Senior Police Inspector Chetansingh Chauhan of Bajaj Nagar Police Station. The team included API Shivaji Borkar, PSI Deepak Pawar, Head Constable Chandrashekhar Tarale, Police Constables Sanjeev Tayde, Yogeshwar Gaikwad, Surendra Shende and Woman Police Constable Rani Karade.
