Nagpur: Sonegaon Police have registered a case against a 22-year-old man from Rajasthan after a nursing student alleged that he raped her on the false promise of marriage and concealed his identity by using a different name during their relationship.

The FIR has been registered under Sections 69, 318(1), and 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

The complainant is a 22-year-old nursing student residing in Nagpur. The accused has been identified as Anwar Yaseen Khan (22), a resident of Anda Bazar, near Ramdevji Temple, Jodhpur, Rajasthan, who allegedly introduced himself to the complainant as Anuj Bhati.

According to the police complaint, the woman came into contact with the accused through an online dating app. The accused allegedly identified himself as Anuj Bhati, claimed he wanted to marry her, and continued communicating with her through Snapchat and text messages, gradually gaining her trust.

Police said the accused later travelled to Nagpur and booked Room No. 204 at Hotel 31 Manor on Wardha Road in Somalwada under his name. When the complainant met him at the hotel, he allegedly established physical relations with her against her will after promising to marry her.

The complaint further states that the two spent time together at different places in Nagpur the following day. A few days later, the complainant allegedly came to know through the accused’s former girlfriend, that his real name was Anwar Yaseen Khan and not Anuj Bhati as he had claimed.

The woman has alleged that the accused concealed his true identity, misrepresented himself, and induced her into the relationship and sexual relations on the false promise of marriage.

Based on her complaint, Sonegaon Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation into the allegations. Police are further probing the circumstances surrounding the case.
