Nagpur: Sitabuldi Police have registered a case against four persons of a family for allegedly cheating a Nagpur-based rice mill owner of ₹1.06 crore by falsely claiming ownership of a portion of land during a property transaction.

The FIR has been registered under Sections 420 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

The complainant has been identified as Anup Ramavatar Goyal (51), a resident of Mohiniraj Apartment, Khare Town, Dharampeth, Nagpur, who is engaged in the rice mill business.

The accused have been identified as:

• Kishore Damodar Balal
• Subhash Damodar Balal
• Girish Damodar Balal
• Parag Kishore Balal

According to the complaint, the accused informed Goyal that the land they were selling had been regularised and assured him that the entire property would be handed over to him without any dispute. Believing their representations, the complainant executed a sale deed on April 22, 2024.

However, police said the accused allegedly misrepresented their ownership over 83.61 square metres of reserved/conservation land, falsely showing it as their private property in the sale documents.

As a result of the alleged fraudulent land transaction, the complainant suffered a financial loss of ₹1,06,57,612.

Following the complaint, Sitabuldi Police registered a case against all four accused and have launched an investigation into the alleged land fraud.
