Nagpur: Tehsil police arrested a 34-year-old man for carrying a deadly weapon and creating a public nuisance in the Bhankheda area on Sunday night. The incident occurred around 9.10 pm on January 11, 2026, near Ramabai Bhavan, when a police patrol team noticed a man brandishing a weapon and abusing passersby at a public place.
The accused was immediately surrounded, detained, and disarmed by the police. He was identified as Ravi Ranjit Birbal (34), a resident of Timki, near Shiv Mandir, Khatikpura, Tehsil area of Nagpur. A sharp iron knife valued at Rs 500 was seized from his possession.
Based on a complaint lodged by Ramkailas Yadav, Tehsil police registered a case against the accused under Sections 4 and 25 of the Arms Act along with Section 135 of the Maharashtra Police Act for violating prohibitory orders. The accused has been arrested and further investigation is underway.
