The victim has been identified as Mohit Subhashrao Takarkhede (25), a resident of Ghate Layout, behind Mendhekar Hospital, Hudkeshwar, who works as a sales executive.
According to the police complaint, on the night of July 15, Mohit was consuming liquor in an open area at Sai Nagar No. 2. The two youths looked at him angrily, following which Mohit apologized and left the spot.
Later, at around 10 pm, the two youths allegedly arrived near Sai Jiya Daily Needs, opposite Motariya Wine Shop, Chandrabhaga Nagar, under the jurisdiction of Hudkeshwar Police Station, and confronted Mohit over the earlier incident.
According to the FIR, one of the accused identified himself as Rohit and allegedly threatened Mohit, saying, “My name is Rohit. There are two cases against me at Hudkeshwar Police Station, including murder.” He then allegedly asked his companion, “Do you have a knife?” The associate reportedly handed him a surgical blade, which Rohit allegedly used to attack Mohit with the intention of killing him.
Police said the accused inflicted serious injuries on Mohit’s neck, back and chest before fleeing the scene on a motorcycle.
The injured victim was initially admitted to Pushpachak Hospital in Mhalginagar and was later shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital (Medical Hospital) for further treatment.
