Nagpur: Lakadganj Police have registered a case against a man for allegedly creating a fake Instagram account and sharing a 22-year-old woman’s obscene photographs and videos with her family after she ended their relationship and got engaged to another person.
The accused has been identified as Prajwal Kawduji Khairkar, a resident of BidiPeth, under the jurisdiction of Sakkardara Police Station. According to the complaint, he is the brother-in-law of the complainant’s cousin.
Police said the complainant and the accused became acquainted in 2022 and remained in regular contact through phone calls, Instagram and WhatsApp.
According to the FIR, on September 23, 2024, the accused allegedly took the woman to a lodge in the Itwari area to celebrate her birthday. After booking a room and cutting a birthday cake, he allegedly asked her to establish physical relations. When she refused, he allegedly forced her to remove her shirt, removed his own shirt and clicked selfies and recorded videos of them together on his mobile phone.
The complainant later ended the relationship and informed the accused of her decision.
Police said the woman got engaged to Pranay Borkar on July 4, 2026. After learning about the engagement, the accused allegedly created a fake Instagram account named “Nikki Sanskar.”
Using the fake account, he allegedly sent a message to the complainant’s elder brother on July 14, claiming that her photographs had gone viral and that he possessed them. He then allegedly shared obscene photographs and videos recorded during their meeting in September 2024 with the complainant’s family through Instagram, causing mental harassment and defaming her.
Based on the woman’s complaint, Lakadganj Police registered FIR No. 443/2026 under Sections 356(2), 75(2) and 79 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Sections 66E and 66 of the Information Technology Act, 2000.
