Nagpur: A young man suffered serious injuries after being electrocuted while atop the Pune Humsafar Express at Nagpur Railway Station on Friday afternoon. The high-voltage jolt from overhead power lines knocked him unconscious and sent him crashing to the platform.
The incident took place around 2:45 pm on Platform No. 7, where the train was standing. Witnesses said the youth suddenly climbed onto the coach roof and began looking around. Moments later, he accidentally came in contact with the live Overhead Equipment (OHE) wires and was thrown off by the powerful shock.
Government Railway Police (GRP) Inspector Gaurav Gawande and Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel reached the spot promptly and rushed the victim to Mayo Hospital. Doctors have placed him in the ICU, describing his condition as critical.
