Nagpur: In a swift and coordinated interstate operation, the Anti-Vehicle Theft Cell of Nagpur Crime Branch on Wednesday, April 30, traced a stolen car worth ₹15 lakh originating from Telangana and apprehended an accused individual who was later handed over to Ameenpur Police.
Acting on a tip-off during routine patrolling, the team received information about a suspicious vehicle entering Nagpur city. A trap was laid near the Hingna toll booth, where officials intercepted a Keta car bearing registration number TS08 JS7884.
During questioning, the driver identified himself as Saurabhkumar Surendrakumar (35), a resident of Balliwala Chowk, Kamli Road, Dehradun, Uttarakhand. He claimed to have bought the car via Facebook Marketplace.
However, upon contacting the original owner, police learned the car had been fraudulently acquired. A case had already been registered at Ameenpur Police Station in Sangareddy district, Telangana, under Sections 316(2) and 318(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
After confirming the details, Nagpur Crime Branch coordinated with Telangana police and handed over the accused along with the seized vehicle to the visiting Ameenpur police team.
This operation was executed under the guidance of Police Commissioner Ravinder Kumar Singal, Additional CP (Crime) Sanjay Patil, DCP (Detection) Rahul Maknikar, and ACP (Crime Branch) Abhijeet Patil. The team included PI Anil Ingole and officials Vilas Kokate, Shambhusingh Kirar, Ajay Shukla, Pankaj Hedau, Rahul Kusrame, and Abhay Dhone.
