Man Caught With MD Powder Worth Rs 72,600 in Nagpur’s Tehsil Area

Nagpur: Tehsil Police apprehended a 34-year-old man with MD (mephedrone) powder during a patrolling operation near Timki, Bhankheda in the wee hours of Thursday, May 1. The accused, identified as Shakeel Ahmed Abdul Khalid, a resident of Takiya Diwanshah near Lal School, was found in possession of 7.26 grams of MD powder worth approximately Rs 72,600.


The incident occurred around 2:15 am when the police received a tip-off that a man was carrying drugs near Gupta Atta Chakki. Upon reaching the location, the suspect attempted to flee but was caught. A search revealed the narcotics hidden in a zip-lock packet in his right pants pocket.


In addition to the MD powder, police seized his mobile phone and a numberless Suzuki Burgman two-wheeler. The total value of the confiscated items amounted to Rs 1.52 lakh. A case under Sections 8(c), 21(b) of the NDPS Act has been registered at Tehsil Police Station, and further investigation is underway.


This operation was carried out under the guidance of CP Ravinder Kumar Singal, Addl CP Sanjay Patil (Crime), DCP Mahek Swami, and ACP Anita More. The on-ground team included PI Shubhangi Deshmukh, PSI Rasul Shaikh, staff officers Rajesh Thakur, Ramkailas Yadav, Yunus Khan, and Firoz Khan.
