Nagpur: Sitabuldi Police successfully apprehended two individuals involved in mobile snatching and theft, cracking two criminal cases in the city. The arrests followed an incident on May 22, 2025, around 6:30 AM, when 80-year-old Sudhakar Jagannath More, a resident of Malavika Apartment in Dharmapeth, was targeted during his morning walk near Ramdaspeth Metro Station.
Two unidentified assailants on a motorcycle forcibly snatched his Samsung mobile worth ₹6,000 and fled the scene. Based on More's complaint, police registered a case under Section 304(2) of the BNS at Sitabuldi Police Station.
Through technical investigation and reliable intelligence, police identified and arrested the accused: Juned Khan Akhtar Khan (19) from Sindhi Basti, Mota Tajbagh, and Sheikh Shahabaj Sheikh Farukh (22) from Azad Colony, Mota Tajbagh. During interrogation, both confessed to the mobile snatching and admitted involvement in another similar crime within Sitabuldi police limits. Authorities recovered two stolen mobile phones worth approximately ₹26,000 from their possession.
The operation was conducted under the guidance of Police Commissioner Ravindrakumar Singal, Deputy Commissioner Navinchandra Reddy, Additional CP (North Zone) Rajendra Dabhad, DCP (Zone 2) Rahul Madne, and ACP (Sitabuldi Division) Sudhir Nandanwar. The investigating team included PI Vitthalsingh Rajput, PI Rakhi Gedam, API Amol Gore, PSI Yashraj Poman, Aniket Sonwane, Constables Shatrughna Munde, Prashant Bhoyar, and Chetan Shende.
