NAGPUR: A juvenile has been booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act after a minor girl allegedly became pregnant following sexual assault and subsequently gave birth to a baby boy at a hospital in Nagpur.

According to the police complaint, the girl and the juvenile lived opposite each other in Rajiv Nagar, Hingna, and knew one another. The boy allegedly proposed to the girl in January 2026, after which they began spending time together and meeting at his house.

On March 21, 2026, the juvenile allegedly called the girl to his residence when nobody else was present. The complaint alleges that he established physical relations with her against her will, resulting in her pregnancy.

On October 21, the girl complained of abdominal pain, following which her mother took her to a government hospital in Hingna for treatment. Doctors reportedly informed her mother that the girl was pregnant and referred her to Government Medical College and Hospital for further treatment.

At the hospital, doctors performed a Caesarean section, and the girl delivered a baby boy.

Based on the complaint, MIDC police registered a case under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Sections 4 and 6 of the POCSO Act. The juvenile has been identified as a child in conflict with law.
