NAGPUR: An unidentified young passenger allegedly snatched a ticketing machine worth ₹10,000 from an Aapli Bus conductor and fled after getting off the bus at Narmada Colony bus stop on Katol Road on October 21.
According to the police complaint, the incident took place between 3 pm and 3.30 pm when Sneha Ganesh Khirdkar (27), a resident of New Narsala, was on duty as a conductor on Aapli Bus (registration number MH-40-DC-0464), which was travelling from Brahmani Phata towards Sitabuldi.
The accused, estimated to be between 21 and 25 years old, boarded the bus at New Katol Naka, saying he wanted to travel there. He paid ₹20 for his ticket, which cost ₹16. Khirdkar reportedly told him that she would return the remaining ₹4 later as she did not have change at the time.
When the bus stopped at Narmada Colony and the conductor opened the door to allow passengers to get off, the young man allegedly snatched the ticketing machine from her hand, got off the bus and fled.
The machine was valued at ₹10,000. Based on the conductor’s complaint, Gittikhadan police registered a case under Section 304(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which deals with snatching.
