Nagpur: In a special gesture to mark the 77th Republic Day celebrations, the Indian Army will open the historic Sitabuldi Fort to the general public on January 26, 2026.
According to official information, Sitabuldi Fort will remain open for visitors from 9 am to 4 pm on Republic Day. Citizens will be allowed entry through the Army Recruiting Office (ARO) gate, located opposite the Nagpur Railway Station. Visitors will be required to produce a valid identity proof for entry.
The exit point for visitors has been designated at the main Fort Gate, ensuring smooth movement and crowd regulation throughout the day.
The Sitabuldi Fort, a key landmark associated with the historic Battle of Sitabuldi, is usually restricted due to security reasons and is opened to the public only on special occasions. The Republic Day opening offers residents and history enthusiasts a rare opportunity to visit the fort and learn about its military and historical significance.
Authorities have appealed to visitors to follow security protocols and cooperate with Army personnel deployed at the venue to ensure a safe and orderly experience.
The initiative is expected to draw large crowds from Nagpur and nearby areas, making it one of the key attractions of the city’s Republic Day celebrations.
