Nagpur: In a swift breakthrough in the sensational double murder case that shocked Nagpur on Wednesday night, the Crime Branch arrested three main accused within hours of the incident in the Sakkardara police station limits.
The accused have been identified as Vaibhav alias Dadu Pradeep Dongre (30), a resident of Narsala near PVS College, Dighori; Vedant alias Dabba Ajay Dabir (20), a resident of Raghuji Nagar; and Abhishek alias Tatya Uttam Raut (26), a resident of New Nandanvan, Nagpur.
The victims were identified as Aditya alias Sonu Bhondwe and Dadu alias Aditya Rahalkar.
According to police, the incident took place at around 8.30 pm on June 10 near Chhota Tajbagh, close to Gond Vasti in Raghuji Nagar under Sakkardara police station limits. Preliminary investigation revealed that both victims and the accused were associated with the fruit-selling business.
Police said the dispute allegedly began after the victims were removed from work at a fruit shop, leading to an argument and physical confrontation between the two groups. During the clash, the accused allegedly attacked the victims using bricks, stones, and a sharp knife, resulting in their deaths on the spot.
After committing the crime, the accused allegedly attempted to flee. Acting quickly, Crime Branch Unit 5, with technical surveillance and field intelligence, tracked and detained all three accused from the Gargoti Nala area in Wihirgaon.
The accused underwent medical examination and were subsequently handed over to Sakkardara Police Station for further investigation.
Senior Police Inspector Vinayak Golhe of Crime Branch Unit 5 confirmed the action. Police are continuing the investigation to establish the full sequence of events and verify whether additional persons were involved.
