Nagpur: In a strict enforcement action against violations of fire safety regulations, the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) sealed Nanking’s Hotel on Thursday for allegedly failing to comply with mandatory fire safety norms.
The action comes in the wake of the recent fire incident at Ashish NX showroom in Nagpur’s Mahal area and follows heightened concerns over fire preparedness after the recent deadly fire incident in Delhi that claimed several lives, prompting civic authorities across cities to intensify inspections and enforcement.
According to civic officials, NMC has launched a focused drive to inspect hotels, commercial establishments, and public-use buildings to ensure compliance with fire prevention and emergency response standards. During the inspection of Nanking’s Hotel, authorities reportedly found violations and deficiencies related to required fire safety measures, leading to immediate sealing of the premises.
Officials said the crackdown is intended to strengthen public safety and ensure that commercial establishments maintain adequate fire protection systems. The recent incidents in Nagpur and Delhi have renewed attention on the risks associated with non-compliance and the need for regular safety audits.
NMC officials indicated that inspections and action against violators will continue across the city in the coming days. Business owners and operators have been urged to review their fire safety infrastructure, obtain necessary clearances, and ensure emergency systems remain functional to prevent such incidents and avoid regulatory action.
