Nagpur: In a successful anti-corruption operation, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Nagpur, trapped and booked a Motor Vehicle Inspector (MVI) of the Regional Transport Office (RTO), Nagpur Rural, along with a private individual for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of ₹500from a truck owner-driver at the Khursapar Maharashtra–Madhya Pradesh border checkpost.

According to ACB officials, the complainant is a truck owner and driver who alleged that during an earlier trip, officials at the RTO border checkpost at Khursapar and a private person working under their influence had demanded and accepted ₹500 as a bribe to allow truck entry clearance.

As the complainant had to pass through the checkpost again and expected another demand for illegal payment, he approached the ACB Nagpur office on June 10, 2026, and lodged a complaint.

During verification conducted on June 11, 2026, it was allegedly confirmed that Motor Vehicle Inspector Sajan Shaligramji Shende (50), posted with the Regional Transport Department, Nagpur Rural, was on duty at the checkpost, while private individual Pravin Baburao Gaydhane (50) allegedly demanded ₹500 from the complainant for processing the truck’s entry.

During the trap operation, Pravin Gaydhane allegedly accepted the bribe amount, while the ACB stated that the public servant encouraged and facilitated the act, following which both were taken into custody.

A case has been registered at Kelwad Police Station, Nagpur Rural, under Sections 7A and 12 of the Prevention of Corruption Act.

The operation was conducted under the guidance of senior officials of the Anti-Corruption Bureau, Nagpur.

The ACB has appealed to citizens across Nagpur district to immediately report any demand for bribes by government officials or private agents beyond legal fees, assuring prompt action on complaints.
