Nagpur: Beltarodi Police have booked three accused for allegedly duping a property developer of over ₹1.61 crore in a fraudulent land deal under the pretext of selling government land.
The complainant, Motilal Jiyalal Chaudhary (46), resident of Manish Nagar, Nagpur, is a partner in a real estate firm named Alliance Reality along with partners Motiram Patle and Shrihari Chaudhary.
Through property broker Gaurishankar Itankar, the complainant came in contact with accused Ramanakar Krishnamohan Korpati (54), Madhukar Korpati (57), and Srinivas Korpati (53) — all residents of Bhendala, Tahsil Mouda, District Nagpur. The trio claimed ownership of land at Mouza Varoda in Nagpur Rural and offered to sell it for ₹13.44 crore.
Between August 20, 2021, and August 17, 2023, the complainant paid ₹1.71 crore as token money to the accused. However, when Chaudhary insisted on executing the sale deed, the accused started avoiding him. Upon verification, it was found that the said land was recorded as forest shrub land, making it non-transferable and illegal for sale.
Despite knowing this, the accused conspired together, took ₹1.71 crore from the complainant, and returned only ₹10 lakh — cheating him of ₹1.61 crore.
Based on Chaudhary’s complaint, Beltarodi Police registered a case under Sections 420 and 34 of the IPC against the accused.
