Nagpur: Under the guidance of Police Commissioner Dr. Ravinder Singal and the supervision of Addl. CP (Crime) and NDPS Squad In-charge, the NDPS team carried out a major operation under “Operation Thunder” and struck a strong blow to the illegal drug network.
On 20th October 2025, between 9:45 PM and 11:50 PM, the NDPS squad laid a trap behind Umar Farooq Masjid, Shivshakti Nagar, Yashodharanagar, Nagpur. During the operation, Mohammad Anwar Mohammad Ismail Ansari (age 38, resident of Shivshakti Nagar) was arrested. From his possession, police seized 79 kg 100 gms of ganja worth ₹19,77,500, along with a mobile phone, an Omni car, and an Activa moped — all valued at ₹21,17,500/-.
The second accused, Ejaz Ansari (resident of Gareeb Nawaz Nagar, Yashodharanagar), is absconding, and efforts are underway to trace him. A case has been registered under Sections 8(c), 20(b)(2)(c), and 29 of the NDPS Act at Yashodharanagar Police Station.
This ₹21 lakh seizure by the NDPS Squad under “Operation Thunder” marks another decisive strike against the drug trafficking chain in Nagpur.
