Nagpur: Acting under the anti-drug campaign “Operation Thunder – Let Us Unite to Build a Drug-Free Society,” launched by Ravinder Kumar Singal, New Kamptee Police Station arrested a drug peddler for possessing MD powder in Nagpur.
According to police officials, between 10:40 pm on May 13, 2026, and 12:55 am on May 14, 2026, a New Kamptee police patrol team was conducting routine patrolling in the jurisdiction when they received credible information about a suspect near Samvidhan Chowk, New Yerkheda, Kamptee.
Police intercepted a Bajaj Pulsar 125 bearing registration number MH-49-BY-3499 and questioned the rider, identified as Ajay Radhelal Sonani, aged 28.
During a search conducted in the presence of panch witnesses, police recovered 3 grams of MD powder packed in two zip-lock pouches, valued at Rs 30,000. Police also seized a mobile phone and the motorcycle, taking the total value of seized property to Rs 90,000.
Officials stated that the accused was allegedly carrying the narcotic substance for sale and personal financial gain. A case has been registered under Sections 8(c) and 22(b) of the NDPS Act, 1985, and the accused has been arrested. Further investigation is underway.
The operation was carried out under the guidance of senior officers including Navinchandra Reddy, Rajendra Dabhade, Dr. Sandeep Pakhale, and Ankush Khedkar. The action was led by Senior Police Inspector Mahesh Andhale and officer Kishor Mahant along with their team.
