New Delhi: An Air India flight operating from Phuket, Thailand, to New Delhi encountered brief mid-air turbulence on Tuesday, leaving 12 people injured, including 10 passengers and two cabin crew members.

According to the airline, Flight AI2379 experienced a turbulence-related event while cruising, resulting in a momentary change in altitude. Despite the incident, the aircraft landed safely at Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi, and all passengers and crew members disembarked safely.

Air India said there were no reports of serious injuries. In a statement, the airline said a small number of passengers and crew members who sustained minor injuries were taken to a medical facility at the airport for precautionary examination and treatment.

"A small number of passengers and crew members with minor injuries requiring medical assessment have been taken to a medical facility at the airport for precautionary examination and care by Air India's airport team and medical personnel," the airline said.

According to initial reports, the injured included 10 passengers and two cabin crew members. The total number of people onboard the flight was not immediately known.

Flight-tracking data indicated that the Airbus A320 operating the flight experienced a temporary loss of altitude shortly before landing in Delhi. The exact cause of the turbulence and the altitude change is being examined.

Air India said it is extending all necessary support to the affected passengers and crew and is fully cooperating with the relevant authorities as part of the investigation into the incident.
