Nagpur: Wathoda Police have registered a case against a 30-year-old man for allegedly threatening, stalking, and cyber-harassing a woman after their proposed marriage was mutually cancelled.

According to police, the complainant is a 28-year-old woman residing in the Wathoda area. She stated that she had met the accused, Ekansh Sanjay Kumbhalkar (30), a resident of Vasudhara Complex, Narendra Nagar, Nagpur, through the Jeevansathi matrimonial website with the intention of marriage.

The two got engaged on July 31, 2025, and their wedding was scheduled for December 2, 2025. However, the complainant later found the accused’s behaviour incompatible, and with the consent of both families, the marriage was mutually called off.

Following the cancellation of the marriage, the accused allegedly became enraged and started threatening the woman. According to the complaint, he warned that he would upload her photographs and personal information on social media. He also allegedly sent obscene messages, used abusive and sexually explicit language, and repeatedly threatened her through Facebook and Instagram, causing her mental distress and insulting her modesty. The accused is also alleged to have stalked and intimidated the complainant online.

Based on the woman’s complaint, Wathoda Police registered Crime No. 365/2026 against Ekansh Sanjay Kumbhalkar under Sections 78, 79, 351(2), 356(2), and 352 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Sections 66(E) and 67 of the Information Technology Act.

The alleged incidents took place between February 5, 2026, and August 3, 2026, and further investigation is being carried out by Wathoda Police.
