Nagpur: Dhantoli Police have registered a case against two brothers for allegedly assaulting a government servant’s family with bricks and wooden construction planks after a dispute erupted when their motorcycle allegedly hit a four-year-old girl in the Ajni area of Nagpur.

The case has been registered under Crime No. 178/2026 at Dhantoli Police Station under Sections 118(1), 352, 351(3), 324(2), and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.

The accused have been identified as Aniket Kangali (24) and Rohit Kangali (26), both residents behind Nilgagan Developers, Chunabhatti, Ajni, Nagpur. Police records indicate that one of the accused has a previous criminal history, including a theft case registered at Yashodhara Nagar Police Station.

According to the complaint lodged by Yashwant Shriramji Rotke (58), a government employee and resident of the same locality, the accused were constructing a house near his residence. As the construction remained incomplete, the site had allegedly become a place where the accused frequently consumed alcohol and other intoxicating substances, causing inconvenience to nearby residents.

The incident occurred on the night of August 2 between 9.15 pm and 9.35 pm, when the accused’s motorcycle allegedly struck the complainant’s four-year-old relative. When Rotke objected to the incident, the accused allegedly abused him and launched a violent attack.

Police said the accused allegedly assaulted Yashwant Rotke on his right ear using construction bricks and wooden shuttering planks. They also attacked his 74-year-old father, Tarachand Rotke, causing head injuries, and assaulted his wife, Pranali Rotke (30), leaving her injured. The accused also allegedly vandalised the complainant’s motorcycle before fleeing the spot.

The injured family members were admitted to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Nagpur, where they received treatment.

Based on the complaint, Dhantoli Police have registered an offence and launched further investigation into the case.
