Nagpur: In a swift and commendable action, Sadar police filed a chargesheet within 15 hours against a 26-year-old accused for allegedly molesting and blackmailing a 21-year-old college student by secretly recording her video while she was bathing and threatening to leak it online.

According to police, the incident took place between June 18, 2023, and June 10, 2025. The victim, a student at a reputed city college, was staying in rented accommodation in Sadar. The accused, identified as Ashwin Satish Dasar, nephew of the house owner, frequently visited the premises.

Taking advantage of the situation, Ashwin allegedly recorded a video of the victim during her bath without her knowledge and later showed it to her, threatening to make it viral.

When the victim objected, the accused physically assaulted her. Distressed by the constant harassment, she moved to a hostel, but the accused continued to stalk her. On June 18, 2025, he again intercepted her in the Sadar area and threatened, “If you don’t befriend me, I’ll release your video, rape you and throw acid on your face.”

A case was registered under Sections 77, 78(1), 79, 115(2), and 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The police swiftly gathered technical evidence and recorded witness statements, completing the investigation and filing the chargesheet in just 15 hours.

The operation was carried out under the guidance of Police Commissioner Ravinder Kumar Singal, Joint CP Navinchandra Reddy, DCP Rahul Madane (Zone 2), and ACP Sunita Meshram. The investigation was led by PI Manish Thakre, PSI Santosh Shirdole, and constables Sunil Raut and Pralesh Kapse.
