Nagpur: In a major crackdown, the NDPS unit of Nagpur Police on Thursday, June 19, uncovered an illegal sale of banned e-cigarettes being conducted through a clothing shop in Jaripatka. Acting on a tip-off, the team raided the “Nonsense Clothing Shop” located at Barakhadi Chowk on Nara Road and seized contraband worth ₹1,87,850.
The operation was carried out on June 19, 2025, between 7:40 pm and 8:40 pm, under the jurisdiction of Jaripatka Police Station. During the raid, officials recovered 62 e-cigarettes, two mobile phones, a DVR, and cash from the shop.
Two individuals have been named in the case:
- Jitendra Mangilal Solanki (36), resident of Rajnagar, Sadar, Nagpur — owner of the shop.
- Yogesh Haribhau Chandekar, resident of Jaripatka — employee.
The accused have been booked under Sections 4, 5, 7, and 8 of the E-Cigarette Prohibition Act. A case has been registered at the Jaripatka Police Station, and further investigations are underway.
Police stated that e-cigarettes were being discreetly sold from within the garments store. Upon confirmation of the information, a panchanama was conducted and the material was confiscated accordingly.
Authorities have urged citizens to report similar illegal activities and warned of strict action against violators.
