Nagpur Rural Police Seize Mephedrone Near Butibori, Two Arrested Under NDPS Act

Nagpur: In a major anti-narcotics operation, the Nagpur Rural Police arrested two youths and seized banned drugs worth over ₹1.19 lakh near Butibori on the Nagpur–Chandrapur Road.


The action was carried out by the Anti-Narcotics Squad during a patrol in the Nagpur rural jurisdiction. The incident occurred at around 10:10 pm on January 25, 2026, near Wakeshwar Phata. Police noticed two individuals standing in a suspicious manner and stopped them for questioning.


Following due legal procedure and in the presence of independent witnesses, the police conducted a search of the suspects. During the search, officers recovered 23.84 grams of Mephedrone (MD) powder, a banned synthetic drug, valued at approximately ₹1,19,200. In addition, a mobile phone and a motorcycle were also seized. The total value of the confiscated property stands at ₹2,34,200.


The accused have been identified as:


  • Shubham Vamanrao Dhoble (29)
  • Jayesh Rajesh Nagarale (19)



Both are residents of Chandramani Nagar, Ajni, Nagpur.


A case has been registered at Butibori Police Station under Sections 8(c), 22(b), and 29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The offence has been recorded as Crime No. 54/2026. The accused were formally arrested, and further investigation is underway to determine the source and intended distribution network of the seized drugs.


The operation was conducted under the guidance of Superintendent of Police Harssh Poddar (Nagpur Rural), Additional Superintendent of Police Anil Maske, and Sub-Divisional Police Officer Bhagyashree Dhirbassi. The team included Anti-Narcotics Squad officers Ajitsingh Devre, Pravin Bhimte, Pravin Devhare, Prakash Dhoke, Amrit Kinge, Dinesh Gadge, Anil Karadkhele, Avinash Todsam, along with officers and staff of Butibori Police Station.


Police officials stated that intensified action against drug trafficking will continue across Nagpur rural areas.
