Nagpur: After months of terrorizing the areas of Digdoha, Dugdhamna, Wadi, Defense, Fetri, Bodhala, Lava, and Khadgaon, a female leopard was finally captured by the Forest Department on Wednesday evening.
The predator had been preying on goats and dogs in the region, creating widespread fear among the residents. People were so frightened that venturing outside at night had become difficult.
Following multiple complaints from the villagers, the Forest Department set up a trap behind the Defense Factory in a forested area. A goat was placed inside the trap, but for 15 days, the CCTV footage showed the leopard merely passing by the trap without entering it.
In a strategic move, the Forest Department then placed a blood-soaked rooster inside the trap. The scent attracted the leopard, and as it entered the cage to devour the rooster, the door snapped shut, finally capturing the elusive animal. The cage was removed from the area on Thursday, much to the relief of the locals.
