Nagpur: The Anti-Human Trafficking Cell (AHTC) of Nagpur Crime Branch successfully traced and rescued a minor girl who had gone missing from the Kalumna police station limits earlier this month.
According to police, the complaint was filed by a 39-year-old resident of Kalumna, stating that her minor daughter had left home on January 23, 2026, around 3 pm, without informing anyone. Despite efforts, the family could not locate her, and it was suspected that an unidentified person had lured and taken her away. Based on the complaint, Kalamna Police registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
During parallel investigations, officers of the Crime Branch Anti-Human Trafficking Unit received credible intelligence on January 27, 2026, that the girl was in Pachalkhaira village in Khairagarh district of Chhattisgarh. Acting swiftly, the team reached the location and, with the help of local police, located and took the girl into safe custody.
Police conducted detailed questioning and provided counselling to the minor before handing her over to Kalamna Police for further legal procedures.
The rescue operation was carried out under the guidance of Police Commissioner Ravinder Kumar Singal, Joint Commissioner Navinchandra Reddy, Additional CP (Crime) Vasant Pardeshi, DCP (Detection) Rahul Maknikar, and ACP Narendra Hivare, led by Senior Police Inspector Lalita Todase and the Anti-Human Trafficking Cell team.
