Nagpur: The Crime Branch’s Anti-Chain Snatching Squad has arrested a key accused involved in an ATM card fraud case in Nagpur, where over ₹1.24 lakh was siphoned off from a contractor’s bank account using a trapped debit card trick.
The complainant, Durgaprasad Tukdodas Gautam (38), a resident of Durga Nagar in Jaripatka and a construction contractor, had visited an ATM of Bank of India at Chinchbhuvan on Wardha Road under Beltarodi Police Station limits on December 19, 2025, between 3:30 pm and 3:45 pm to withdraw cash for labour payments.
According to police, a youth present at the ATM left just before Gautam inserted his card into the machine. The card got stuck inside. While Gautam was trying to retrieve it, another youth approached and asked him to enter his PIN number, which he did. However, the card did not come out. The youth then misled him by advising him to visit a bank branch at Khapri. During this time, the accused withdrew and used money from Gautam’s account, stealing a total of ₹1,24,728.
Based on the complaint, Beltarodi Police had registered an offence against an unknown suspects under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
