Nagpur: A wave of panic gripped Bezonbagh area under Jaripatka Police Station limits on Wednesday night after bike-borne miscreants opened fire at a businessman and fled with cash reportedly worth around ₹4-5 lakh.
Armed Attack in Bezonbagh:
According to police sources, the victim, Raju Dipani, a resident of Mekosabagh, was carrying a substantial amount of cash when he was intercepted by armed assailants on a motorcycle. The accused threatened him at gunpoint and, when the victim tried to escape, they opened fire. The bullets struck the businessman, leaving him grievously injured.
Critical Condition:
Locals rushed the victim to Max Hospital, where he is undergoing treatment under critical condition. The shocking incident has sparked fear among traders and residents in the area.
Police Launch Probe:
Soon after the incident, senior police officials reached the spot and initiated a probe. Teams are scanning CCTV footage from nearby areas to identify the culprits. Preliminary reports suggest that the robbers had conducted a recce of the businessman’s movements before executing the crime.
Police have registered a case of attempt to murder and armed robbery. A manhunt has been launched to nab the attackers.
