Pune: A 29-year-old techie and his wife were allegedly assaulted by another couple during the screening of The Conjuring: Last Rites at a Chinchwad multiplex after the victim asked the man behind him to stop revealing spoilers. The incident occurred on September 5, and an FIR was registered at Chinchwad police station on September 7.

According to police, the complainant, his wife, and her sister were watching the film when the accused man, seated with his wife and toddler son, kept explaining the storyline aloud. When the techie requested him to stop, the accused became aggressive. During the interval, he grabbed the techie by the collar and punched and kicked him on the face, shoulder, and abdomen.

When the victim’s wife tried to intervene, she too was assaulted and abused. The injured techie was admitted to a Nigdi hospital. Police have arrested the accused couple, who were remanded to judicial custody.
