Nagpur: In a swift breakthrough, the Crime Branch Unit 1 of Nagpur Police arrested three accused within just 12 hours in connection with a brutal murder under the jurisdiction of Wadi Police Station.
According to police reports, the incident occurred between 12:10 AM and 11:00 AM on April 3, 2026. The victim, 44-year-old Suchit Upasrao Bhojapure, a resident of Trimurti Society in Wadi, was found murdered near Lava Cremation Ground on Khadgaon Road. An unknown assailant had fatally attacked him by smashing his head with a stone.
A complaint was filed by the victim’s father, 75-year-old Upasrao Motiram Bhojapure, a resident of Nishti Amgaon in Bhandara district. Based on the complaint, a murder case was registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at Wadi Police Station.
During the parallel investigation, Crime Branch officials examined CCTV footage from the crime scene and surrounding areas, along with technical and cyber analysis.
The team successfully identified and detained three suspects:
- Aryan Naresh Shende (22)
- Rishank Taresh Kamble (20)
- Anuj Ramesh Waghmare (19)
During interrogation, the accused confessed to the crime. They revealed that they had encountered the victim in an intoxicated state inside a red Alto car on Vardhaman Nagar flyover. After offering him a ride, the victim asked them to drop him at multiple locations, including Bhiwapur and later Wadi.
Upon reaching his residence in Wadi, they found the house locked. When they contacted the victim’s wife, she reportedly refused to accept him back home.
Subsequently, driven by greed for his car and mobile phones, the accused took him to a deserted location, killed him using a stone, stripped his body, and dumped it in bushes. They fled with his vehicle and two mobile phones.
Following their confession, all three accused were formally arrested and handed over to Wadi Police for further investigation.
The operation was led by PI Dyaneshwar Bhedodkar and conducted under the guidance of senior Nagpur Police officials, with coordinated efforts from Crime Branch officers and the cyber team.
