Nagpur: A 16-year-old girl preparing for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) has gone missing from Nagpur’s Jaripatka area after allegedly leaving her home with ₹28,000 in cash. Police have registered a kidnapping case against an unidentified person under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
According to the complaint lodged by the girl’s father at Jaripatka Police Station, the minor is a Class 11 student enrolled at a JEE coaching institute in Jamtha.
Police said the teenager had earlier left her coaching institute on August 2. Following a complaint by her family, she was traced and safely brought back home by the police. She had been asked to report for a medical examination on August 4 as part of the earlier inquiry.
However, during the intervening night of August 3 and 4, the girl allegedly left her residence without informing any family member. She reportedly took her school bag and ₹28,000 in cash before disappearing.
Her family searched for her among relatives, friends and nearby areas, but failed to locate her. Based on the complaint, the family suspects that an unidentified person may have lured the minor away by taking advantage of her age.
Jaripatka Police have registered a case under Section 137(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, and launched a search to trace the missing minor and identify the person allegedly involved. Police are continuing their investigation.
