Nagpur: New Kamptee Police have registered a kidnapping case after a 15-year-old minor girl went missing from the Yerkheda area of Kamptee following a dispute with her father over the use of a mobile phone.

According to the police complaint, the incident occurred on August 3. The girl’s father, a daily wage labourer residing in Yerkheda, had reportedly scolded her over a mobile phone, leading to an argument between them. Later, he left for work, leaving the girl alone at home.

When he returned home in the evening, the minor was missing. Despite searching for her at various places and making efforts to trace her, the family was unable to locate her.

Based on the complaint, police suspect that an unknown person may have lured and taken away the minor girl. A case has been registered under Section 137(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, relating to kidnapping.

New Kamptee Police have launched an investigation and are making efforts to trace the missing girl. As the victim is a minor, her identity has been withheld in accordance with legal and ethical guidelines.
