Man Damages Hospital Door After Argument Over Father’s Ventilator Treatment in Nagpur

Nagpur: A 26-year-old man allegedly created a ruckus at a multispeciality hospital in the Kamal Chowk area after doctors informed him that his father would require ventilator support, police said.


The incident took place between 10.45 pm and 11 pm on October 1 at a Multispeciality Hospital and Critical Care Centre under Pachpaoli police station limits.


According to the complaint, the accused became enraged after doctors informed him that his father, Prahlad Machhale, needed to be put on a ventilator. He allegedly entered into a heated argument with the hospital’s doctors and staff and abused them.


The accused allegedly kicked a glass door at the hospital, smashing it and causing property damage estimated at around Rs 30,000.


The complaint was lodged by a 31-year-old hospital receptionist, following which Pachpaoli police registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including provisions pertaining to causing hurt, assault or criminal force and mischief causing damage.


Police are conducting further investigation into the incident.
