Nagpur: In a major relief for needy and economically weaker patients across Maharashtra, the state government is set to launch an upgraded online system for the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund and the Charitable Hospital Assistance Cell, aimed at speeding up medical financial assistance and treatment approvals.
Under the new digital platform, applications for financial aid will now be processed and approved within 8 official working hours, provided all required documents are submitted as per rules.
Hospitals to Submit Applications Directly Instead of Patients
One of the most significant changes in the new system is that patients will no longer need to personally fill out and submit applications. Instead, hospitals affiliated with the assistance cell will directly submit applications on behalf of patients after collecting the necessary documents.
This move is expected to reduce delays and ensure faster commencement of treatment for patients requiring urgent medical care.
According to Dr. Sagar Pande, Member Secretary and Head of the Chief Minister’s Medical Assistance Fund Cell in Nagpur, the new online system has been designed with a patient-friendly approach and will be officially inaugurated in the coming days by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
Major Patient-Centric Reforms Underway
Dr. Pande said several innovative and patient-focused reforms have been introduced over the past year in the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund and Charitable Hospital Assistance Cell. The new online system is a part of these reforms.
Once patients submit all required documents to the hospital, the hospital administration will forward the application to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund office for approval.
Over 40,000 Patients Received Rs 333 Crore in Aid
During the financial year from April 1, 2025 to March 31, 2026, a total of 40,776 patients across Maharashtra received medical assistance worth Rs 333.06 crore through the scheme.
In Nagpur district alone, 2,320 patients were provided medical aid amounting to Rs 19.79 crore during the same period.
Cancer Treatment Support for Children Through CSR Funding
The Chief Minister’s Relief Fund Cell has also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with BPCL Foundation and Tata Memorial Centre for treatment of children suffering from cancer.
Through this agreement, special CSR funds will be made available to ensure needy patients receive quality treatment.
747 Health Camps Conducted in Nagpur
In Nagpur district, a total of 747 health camps were organised last year under initiatives such as Namo Netra Sanjeevani Camp, Aarogyacha Shri Ganesha, and other health outreach programs.
These camps benefited 53,422 patients, officials said.
Toll-Free Helpline for Patients
Dr. Pande appealed to needy patients to seek more information by contacting the toll-free helpline number: 1800 123 2211
The state government is expected to roll out the system across Maharashtra after its formal launch, promising faster approvals, quicker treatment access, and significant relief for thousands of patients.
