Nagpur: Jaripatka police have registered a case against a 42-year-old man for allegedly making repeated sexual advances towards his 23-year-old niece and secretly recording a video of her while she was bathing in the bathroom.

According to the complaint, the accused and the 23-year-old woman are relatives who live in the same neighbourhood. The accused is her maternal uncle. He allegedly asked her several times to establish physical relations with him.

The complaint further states that when the woman was bathing in the bathroom at her residence, the accused allegedly recorded a video of her on his mobile phone without her consent. When the woman noticed the recording, it was subsequently deleted, according to the complaint.

The alleged acts caused distress and violated the woman’s dignity. Based on her complaint, Jaripatka police registered a case under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including provisions relating to sexual harassment, voyeurism and insulting the modesty of a woman.

Further investigation is underway.
