Hit-and-Run: One Killed After Being Mowed Down by Cement Mixer Truck in Bajaj Nagar, Case Registered

Nagpur: A 29-year-old man lost his life in a hit-and-run accident after being knocked down by a speeding cement concrete mixer truck in the Bajaj Nagar police station area of Nagpur. Police have registered a case against the unidentified truck driver and launched a search to trace the accused.


According to police, the complainant, Karan Raju Chikate (34), a resident of Abhishek Apartment in Trimurti Nagar, Ranapratap Nagar, runs a shop named “ABS Chinese Centre” near the SBI ATM on the road leading towards Mate Chowk, opposite Infotech Tower, under Bajaj Nagar police station limits. Two workers, Hemant Dutta and Surendra Ramdas Parate (29), both natives of Jaytala, Gudhde, MIDC area, were employed at the shop and were staying there on rent.


The incident occurred around 10 pm on January 12, 2026. Surendra Parate had stepped out near the Infotech Tower premises to attend nature’s call. While returning and crossing the road on foot, a white cement concrete mixer truck coming from Subhash Nagar towards Mate Chowk allegedly rammed into him at high speed. The truck driver reportedly drove rashly and negligently, hit Parate, causing severe injuries, and fled the spot without stopping.


Parate was rushed to a government medical hospital for treatment. However, despite medical efforts, he succumbed to his injuries during treatment around 6 am on January 13, 2026. Doctors declared him dead after examination.


Based on the complaint lodged by Karan Chikate, Bajaj Nagar police have registered an offence against the cement mixer truck driver under Sections 281 and 106(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with Sections 134 and 177 of the Motor Vehicles Act. The case has been registered by Police Sub-Inspector Atul Ade.


Police said efforts are on to identify and nab the absconding truck driver, and further investigation is underway.
