Nagpur: An IT company director lost his Apple iPhone 17 worth ₹86,662 after an unidentified person allegedly stole the device from his pocket while he was visiting a Ganpati pandal for darshan in Sonegaon on September 23.

According to the complaint, Arvindsingh Indrajitsingh Arora (46), a resident of Meghdoot Villa in HB Estate, Sonegaon, had gone to a Ganpati darshan venue in Bhende Layout at around 1 pm.

The venue was crowded with devotees at the time. Police said an unidentified person allegedly took advantage of the rush and removed Arora’s mobile phone from his pocket without his knowledge before fleeing from the spot.

The stolen device is an Apple iPhone 17 valued at around ₹86,662 and was being used with a Jio SIM card.

Arora reportedly realised that his phone was missing after leaving the venue and subsequently approached Sonegaon Police to lodge a complaint.

Based on his complaint, police registered a case against an unidentified person under the relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Investigators are examining CCTV footage from the Ganpati darshan venue and surrounding areas in an effort to identify the accused.

Police are currently investigating the case.
