Nagpur: The Social Security Branch of the Nagpur Crime Branch has registered cases against several hotel and lodge operators for allegedly using the OYO brand name and logo without authorisation for commercial purposes.
The action was taken on September 23, 2026, following a complaint by Narendra Suresh Kharve, 42, a nodal officer with OYO Hotels & Homes Pvt Ltd. Kharve is authorised by the company to initiate legal action against establishments allegedly misusing the OYO brand and logo.
According to the police, the Crime Branch team conducted checks at hotels operating under the OYO name and found that the operators were allegedly using the company’s trademark and logo without authorisation for their financial benefit. The establishments were also allegedly found violating conditions mentioned in the Nagpur Police Commissioner’s circular regarding OYO-affiliated hotels.
Cases were registered against the following operators:
- Anand Inn, Wihirgaon, Umred Road, Hudkeshwar: Owner Khushal Vitthalrao Wadekar
- Spot On Fakta Tu Ani Mi, Mata Nagar, Bahadura: Owner Chetan Motiram Charde
- S K Hari, Telephone Nagar, Umred Road: Owner Prajwal Harichandra Kamble
- A Y Imperial and OYO Airport Imperial, Sonegaon: Operator Aniket Premdas Kutarmare
- OYO K2, Wadi: Operator Pawan Khobragade
- Chandra Inn, MIDC: Owner Sonu Mandal
- Flagship The Way Hotel, Sitabuldi: Owner Saurabh Shadar Yadav
- Cosrod Rooms, Imamwada: Owner Rishabh Sharad Nandvanshi
- O Kings Inn, Beltarodi: Owner Mithilesh Sontakke
- Highway Inn, Old Kamptee: Owner Akshay Waghmare
- Continental Inn, Yashodhara Nagar: Owner Yash Chahande
- Galaxy Stay Inn, Pachpaoli: Owner Rishiraj Choukse
The police said the alleged offences attract provisions under Sections 345(3), 347(1) and 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with Sections 103 and 104 of the Trade Marks Act, 1999.
Separate cases have been registered at the respective police stations, and further investigation is underway.
The operation was carried out under the guidance of Nagpur Police Commissioner Vishwas Nangre Patil, Joint Commissioner Navinchandra Reddy, Additional Commissioner (Crime) Rajendra Dabhade, Deputy Commissioner (Detection) Deepak Agrawal and Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch) Vaibhav Jadhav. Police Inspector Darshan Patil and his team conducted the action.
