Nagpur: In a significant crackdown on organized crime, Shailesh Kedar, nephew of notorious gangster Santosh Ambekar, has been detained under the Maharashtra Prevention of Dangerous Activities (MPDA) Act. Shailesh, a resident of Santi Road near Itwari High School, is implicated in several criminal cases, including charges of murder, kidnapping, extortion, and illegal money lending.

With Santosh Ambekar currently serving time in prison, Shailesh allegedly took advantage of his uncle’s absence to establish a reign of terror in the Itwari area. According to police reports, despite multiple preventive actions by the authorities, Shailesh continued his illegal activities, extorting money from local hawkers and traders.

Around three months ago, Shailesh was involved in a serious incident at Bardakas Chowk near Gandhi Putla Square. Allegedly, with the assistance of a local political leader, he created a commotion in an attempt to extort money from the residents.

The police, taking note of his persistent unlawful activities, invoked the stringent MPDA Act to curb his influence and ensure the safety of the community.
