Cyber Fraud in Hingna: Labourer Duped via WhatsApp Link

Nagpur: A 44-year-old labourer from Gumgaon, Hingna, lost ₹51,900 after clicking on a suspicious WhatsApp link sent by an unknown caller.
The victim, Ajay Narayan Sahare, received the link on April 10, 2024. Upon clicking, his mobile phone was hacked, allowing the accused to transfer money from his bank account linked to the device.
The fraud was discovered later when Sahare checked his account balance. He filed a complaint on June 5, 2026, following which police registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Information Technology Act.
Police have urged citizens to avoid clicking unknown links and report cyber fraud immediately on helpline 1930.
