Nagpur: A security guard of Aero Vironment Engineers Inc allegedly threatened an engineer with a knife and robbed him of ₹23,000 after noticing him counting the cash at his cabin in the MIDC area on Wednesday evening.
According to the complaint registered with MIDC police, the complainant, Siraj (62), was working at an engineering company in the MIDC area. The accused, identified as Mithilesh Singh, was employed as a security guard at the premises.
The incident occurred around 4.30 pm on September 17. Police said S Suraj S Siraj had withdrawn ₹23,000 from a bank as he was required to travel out of town. While he was sitting inside his cabin and counting the money, he received a call from a bank employee informing him that ₹100 had been credited to him in excess.
As Siraj took out the cash from his bag to count it, Singh allegedly noticed the money. The accused then entered the cabin, allegedly threatened Siraj with a knife and took his cash bag.
Singh allegedly forced Siraj to accompany him in his four-wheeler and asked him to drive towards Central MIDC Road. After reaching the location, the accused allegedly forcibly took ₹23,000 from the bag, returned the empty bag to Siraj and fled.
Based on Siraj’s complaint, MIDC police registered a case under Section 309(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
Police are investigating the incident and efforts are underway to trace the accused and recover the stolen money.
