Nagpur: A total of 19 teachers and 32 students from Nagpur Division have been booked in connection with widespread malpractices during the Class 10 board examinations, according to Chintaman Wanjari, Chairman of the Maharashtra State Board’s Nagpur Division.
Despite the strict implementation of an anti-copying campaign this year, several incidents of cheating and exam violations were reported across multiple districts. Flying squads and vigilance teams, acting on tip-offs, uncovered a range of offences including copying, unauthorized sharing of question papers via mobile phones, and post-exam tampering with answer sheets.
Teachers Involved in Malpractices:
Investigations revealed that 19 teachers facilitated cheating or attempted to leak question papers:
• 12 teachers from Chandrapur
• 2 from Gadchiroli
• 5 from Bhandara
Some teachers allegedly shared question papers through mobile phones during exam hours, severely violating board protocols.
32 Students Face Disciplinary Action:
During the examination period:
• 22 students were caught copying, with the highest number from Gondia (14), followed by Chandrapur (4), Gadchiroli (3), and Nagpur (1).
After the exams, 10 more students were booked for tampering with answer sheets, bringing the total to 32 students facing disciplinary action.
Paper Leak Attempt Foiled in Bhandara:
In a significant breach, a teacher at the Chichal-Barwa exam centre in Bhandara attempted to leak the question paper by sending it to an associate in Balaghat via mobile phone. Acting swiftly on the alert, authorities apprehended the prime accused from Balaghat. Additionally, five other teachers and staff members have been booked in the same case.
