Nagpur: To ensure peace and order during the upcoming festivals of Pola, Tanhapola, Marbat, Ganeshotsav and Eid-e-Milad, Zone 4 Police have initiated preventive action against habitual offenders. Acting under the orders of Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Rashmita Rao N, Zone-4, as many as 91 criminals with a history of disturbing peace have been temporarily externed from their respective police station limits.
The externment orders were passed under the special executive magistrate powers vested with the DCP, Zone-4. As per Section 163(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), the accused have been prohibited from moving within the jurisdiction of their concerned police stations. They have also been warned that any violation of the externment order will invite strict action under Section 223 of BNS.
According to police data, the externment has been carried out police station-wise in Zone-4 as follows:
- Ajni Police Station – 25 accused
- Beltarodi Police Station – 10 accused
- Hudkeshwar Police Station – 11 accused
- Sakkardara Police Station – 10 accused
- Nandanvan Police Station – 12 accused
- Imamwada Police Station – 13 accused
- Wathoda Police Station – 10 accused
In total, 91 accused have been externed temporarily from these seven police station limits.
Police officials stated that the action is part of preventive policing to avoid law-and-order disturbances during major festivals, where large public gatherings are expected.
