Nagpur: In a rapid response operation, Nagpur Crime Branch apprehended two minors within hours after they allegedly lured and robbed a young man visiting from Madhya Pradesh. The incident occurred on November 10 in the Ganga Jamuna area, where the 29-year-old victim was tricked under the guise of physical companionship and subsequently assaulted and robbed of cash, a mobile phone, and a motorcycle.

According to police sources, the victim, identified as Pankaj (name changed), had traveled from Sausar, Madhya Pradesh, and parked his motorcycle at Itwari Station before heading toward Ganga Jamuna around 9:15 p.m. While in the area, he was approached by one of the minors, who convinced him to follow with the false promise of introducing him to an attractive woman.

The minor led Pankaj to Sunil Hotel, where he discreetly informed an accomplice of the plan. Together, they directed Pankaj to the Baradwari area in Pardi, where the duo physically assaulted him and seized his cash, mobile phone, and bike. Following the robbery, Pankaj immediately reported the incident to the police, leading to a quick investigation.

A crucial lead emerged when, during the incident, one of the minors requested Pankaj to transfer Rs 100 via PhonePe to his mother’s account due to his low bank balance. This transaction allowed authorities to trace the account, leading them to a Central Bank branch and eventually to the suspects’ location in Teka Naka, Panchpaoli.

Further investigations revealed that the minor’s mother had moved out of the area five years ago. Using mobile tracking, Crime Branch officers successfully located the primary minor suspect at Awasthi Nagar Square, where he was working at a local paan shop. The suspect, known to police for prior offenses, provided information that led to the swift capture of his accomplice.

Police have since recovered the stolen items, including the motorcycle, mobile phone, and valuables, amounting to an estimated Rs 1.35 lakh. The two minors are currently in custody, and further legal action is being pursued.
