Nagpur: Acting swiftly on a vehicle theft case, Gittikhadan Police arrested a 19-year-old youth and recovered a stolen Maruti car worth ₹3 lakh.
According to reports, between July 25 (6 pm) and July 29 (10 am), complainant Anil Harichandra Chopra (62), resident of Om Satyam Exotica Apartment, Hazari Pahad, Nagpur, had parked his Maruti car (MH 31 CS 0106) outside his house after locking it. However, unidentified thieves stole the vehicle. Following his complaint, a case was registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code at Gittikhadan Police Station.
During investigation, police gathered technical evidence and nabbed Anusagar alias Sonu Indrakumar Bhardwaj (19), a native of Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh, currently residing in Gittikhadan. The accused, who worked as a security guard, confessed to the theft during interrogation. The stolen car, valued at ₹3 lakh, was seized from his possession.
The operation was carried out under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner of Police Nityanand Jha and Assistant Commissioner of Police Sunita Meshram, by PI Kailas Deshmane and his team comprising PSI Baljit Thakur, Ajay Yadav, Vilas Chavan, Vishal Nandekar, and other officers. Further investigations are underway.
