Nagpur: A 33-year-old man was allegedly murdered after his wife and her lover conspired to kill him, following which MIDC Police arrested one of the accused in Nagpur.

The deceased, Sudhir Mahendraprasad Dwivedi (33), a resident of Gajanan Nagar, was found dead near an electric pole on Rajiv Nagar Main Road along Hingna-Nagpur Road between the night of August 9 and morning of August 10.

Initially, police registered an accidental death case based on a complaint filed by Sudhir’s younger brother Sukhendrakumar Mahendraprasad Dwivedi (30). However, the post-mortem report indicated that Sudhir had died an unnatural death, prompting police to investigate the circumstances surrounding his death.

During the investigation, police allegedly found that Sudhir’s wife Pooja Sudhir Dwivedi (22) was in a relationship with his friend Ashishkumar Nareshkumar Agnihotri (29). Technical investigation of mobile phones and subsequent questioning allegedly revealed their involvement in the murder.

According to police, the duo allegedly made Sudhir consume alcohol at his residence before attacking him on the forehead with an iron rod. They allegedly suffocated him by pressing a dupatta over his nose and mouth, killing him.

The accused allegedly then transported the body to Rajiv Nagar Main Road and placed it near an electric pole. A partially consumed liquor bottle was allegedly left at the spot to create the impression that Sudhir had died in an accident.

Police further found that both accused had allegedly deactivated their old SIM cards and started using new ones in an attempt to avoid detection.

Following the investigation, PSI Sagar Gaikwad lodged a complaint, based on which MIDC Police registered a case under Sections 103(1), 61 and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Ashishkumar Nareshkumar Agnihotri has been arrested, while further investigation is underway.
