Nagpur: An Assistant Police Inspector (API) posted at the Nagpur Commissioner of Police (CP) Office allegedly died by suicide at his residence in the PCMT Quarters during the intervening night of August 15 and 16.

The deceased has been identified as Dnyaneshwar Zhol, who was reportedly working in the Pro and Arj (petition) branch at the CP Office.

According to preliminary information, Zhol allegedly took the extreme step sometime between around 12 midnight and 1 am at his residence in the PCMT Quarters. The incident came to light subsequently, following which police were informed.

The exact reason behind the alleged suicide could not be ascertained immediately. Police have initiated an inquiry to establish the circumstances leading to the incident.
