Wadi Police Raid Gambling Den, Nine Booked with Cash and Mobiles Seized in Nagpur

Nagpur: Acting on a tip-off, Wadi Police conducted a raid at a godown near Anisha Road Line, Meet Dhaba, Wadhamna, late on August 24. The raid, held in the presence of panch witnesses between 11 pm and 11.55 pm, exposed nine men gambling with playing cards and cash.


The accused were identified as Prabhakar alias Rajat Ramkrishna Yadav (27), Namod Tekchand Nagarale (49), Avinash Kashinath Kuthe (52), Narendra Manoharlal Mahalle (49), Bijendra Brahmanarayan Tiwari (40), Sachin Ambadas Dhoke (49), Kundan Jaswantsingh Yadav (40), Varun Rakesh Sarkar (45) and Sunilkumar Phulchand Singh (49), all residents of different parts of Nagpur.


From the spot, police seized ₹27,300 cash, five mobile phones, playing cards, and other materials worth ₹77,300. A case was registered under Sections 4 and 5 of the Maharashtra Gambling Prevention Act at Wadi Police Station.


The operation was carried out under the guidance of DCP (Zone 1) S Rushikesh Reddy and ACP Satishkumar Gurav, led by PI Rajesh Tatkare, PSI Avinash Jaibhaye, API Rahul Botre, and their team. Further investigation is underway.
